Mom Chokes Up With Tears Reading Letter From Son

Mom Chokes Up With Tears Reading Letter From Son

We owe a lot to our parents and as we grow into functioning adults we look back and realize how much our parents sacrificed for us. When you think about how to ever repay your parents it seems nearly impossible.

After all, they did put their lives on hold for 18 years to make sure we had clothes on our backs and food in our bellies.

The thing is our parents aren’t looking for us to repay them, they just want us to live happy healthy lives. Even just giving them a simple phone call or card would make them smile.

But imagine if you were ever ‘rolling in the dough’, what would be the first thing you’d do for your parents?

In 2017 a baseball player named Pavin Smith got the opportunity of a lifetime. He was 21-years-old when he was the 7th overall pick for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the MLB amateur draft.

That in itself is something to be excited about, but there was another thing that made Pavin’s dream job out of this world.

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed Pavin onto a minor league deal with a 5 million dollar bonus ! Now, we’ve all heard the stories where young successful athletes get a boatload of money and blow it all in a short amount of time.

But Pavin had a much better idea of how he was going to invest his new fortune.

It was Christmas morning at The Smith’s when everyone surrounded the tree ready to open gifts. They passed presents around, happy to watch everyone’s faces light up with excitement. When things started to simmer down a bit Pavin decided to grab the gift he had for his mom and dad.

So he sat them down and hit record while his mom opened a very special envelope.

Pavin’s dad and sister stood behind her, while they are read the card that held an extraordinary message.

The note enclosed a beautiful poem and words by Pavin that read,

“Thank you f or raising me in a great home filled with love. Because of all the sacrifices you made to get me where I am, I want our family home to be YOURS… so I am paying off your mortgage. Merry Christmas from your grateful son. Pavin”

His parent’s eyes were filled with happy tears after reading those life-changing words.

They could have never guessed what that envelope held inside. Now, his parents never have to make another payment to keep their family home again. Pavin’s heartfelt gift just goes to show how much he appreciates all his parents have done for him other the years.

But even Pavin knows paying off their mortgage still doesn’t amount to all his loving parents do.

He captioned his Twitter video saying,

“Thank you for everything you have done for me! This doesn’t make up for any of it. Love you both so much. Our home is finally all YOURS. Merry Christmas!”

Congratulations to The Smiths & way to go Pavin!
