Mom Closes Door And Leaves Dogs Home With Christmas Decorations

Christmas is undoubtedly an exciting time for our pets. As the tree comes out complete with festive decorations, they really have no clue what’s going on – but they want to be a part of it. Usually, their idea of helping involves doing quite the opposite, so we were incredibly surprised to come across a video of eight extraordinarily talented dogs.

Most people wouldn’t dream of leaving eight dogs alone with a bare Christmas tree, alongside huge boxes of tinsel, baubles, ornaments, and a generous stash of presents. It sounds like a recipe for disaster!

But somehow, one team of eight dogs made it work. We’re not sure if they are actually Father Christmas’ elves who have been sent in disguise from the workshop, but one thing we do know is that their tree decorating skills are 10/10.

We first came across the video of these eight dogs at work after it was shared onto YouTube by Nora Vamosi-Nagy . Titled, “A doggy Christmas surprise,” and it has over 15.4 million views, and it’s the perfect way to get yourself into the festive spirit (who cares if it’s February?)

As we watch the video, all we can think about is that it must have taken hours of training to teach these dogs how to decorate the tree so brilliantly. Big or small, every dog has a role to play, from hanging the ornaments on the tree, to rolling up and putting away rugs, wrapping tinsel around the tree, and adding presents to the pile beneath.

They make sure to help each other out with the tasks, and the levels of teamwork are extraordinary.

The talent continues on, and we can’t believe our eyes as one brave poodle even climbs a ladder!

As the decorating comes to an end, the dogs are clearly exhausted, and they collapse underneath their beautifully decorated tree.

We’re suddenly feeling pretty guilty that our dog only knows how to ‘sit’ and ‘beg’. How can you train your dog to decorate a tree, may you ask? It turns out that the way to teach your dogs cool tricks like this one is to first practice being a good example to them.

According to The Bark , “The main idea is that everything is up to the owner. So, if you have a dog who’s not behaving or if you have a problem, then we usually say that you should look at what you are doing wrong and not put it on the dog. A dog is a mirror in this whole process, mirroring what you are doing wrong or good.”

There is a three-part method behind this theory, and it’s called the Mirror Method.

The first part is being the leader in the group or the pack.

Although people often talk about dogs being pack animals, it’s more helpful to look at them as children. Dogs see us as parents not leaders – but with that in mind, it’s still beneficial to assert your dominance in order to master the Mirror Method.

The second part to the method is teaching. and The Bark suggests clicker training is the way forward.

They add that, “once you can shape something to the dog you start to look at the dog a different way, you start to see things that you didn’t see before, and start to use your hand and your movements consciously.”

The third part of the method is lifestyle.

Lifestyle factors are really important if you want to teach your dog new tricks. You can keep your dog physically and mentally engaged by taking them on walks, playing with them, and teaching them new tricks regularly.

In fact, lifestyle factors are so important, that experts even suggest that, “If the dog is not mentally engaged, it can get sick and ill.”
