Newest K9 On The Force Can’T Keep His Eyes Open During His Swearing In Ceremony

There are some things that get us so excited that it prevents us from falling asleep at night.

It doesn’t matter what it is, but thinking can keep you busy, and you end up wide awake until the sun rises. We’d either be like a walking zombie or we can’t help but take a little nap while on the job.

Well, that’s exactly what happened with one little pooch from Rhode Island.

It was a big day for Brody, a new K-9 comfort dog at Bristol Police Department. He was about to have his swearing-in ceremony for his new job, but somehow, people could see him having snooze bubbles while on the spot. Perhaps Brody was too excited that he forgot to fall asleep at night, and he had a hard time keeping his eyes open while sitting through the department’s important ceremony for him.

Officers have shared various facts about their new recruit.

The police have taken a liking to this little pup, and a lot seem to welcome him especially for his new job as a therapy dog. Officer Keith Medeiros, Brody’s handler, told The Dodo:

“He plays really hard and he sleeps really hard. When he’s not playing, he’s sleeping, which is kind of tough because he sleeps a lot.”

With Brody spending up too much energy on his playtime, it rendered him so tired that he just fell flat on the desk he was on.

So how did this puppy got his job in the first place?

The whole department had noticed Brody’s talent, and they thought that he could yield promising results for them. The officers have debated on where to put him, and the current options were to be on the narcotics or bomb-sniffing team. However, Mederios, the school resource officer, had another idea.

“What about a therapy dog?”

The team loved the idea and Brody joined the team in mid-March 2020.

Everyone in the department considered the idea, and it ended up being everyone’s final decision. However, the timing was a worry at first, especially with the coronavirus pandemic going on. They worried about Brody, who had to be exposed to a typical day at work and learn the ropes as their new therapy dog.

But it turned out that Brody had arrived at a perfect time. Medeiros said:

“People are really stressed, especially in law enforcement. Just by walking in the police department with Brody, people immediately smile, they immediately get into a better place. They want to pet him, want to hug him and it’s just a really good thing.”

Their decision turned out pretty well with Brody expected to provide them with destressing therapy while on the job. That was when he was brought to the police department’s desk for his swearing-in.

They recorded the whole event and ended up capturing a hilarious video of him trying his best not to sleep. However, he gave into his tiredness in at the end. The clip was posted onto Bristol Police Department’s Facebook page and has since been viewed 776,000 times while having over 1,300 shares, making Brody a local celebrity!

You could notice the moment where Brody rolls onto his side, snoozing with a look of deep contentment on his little face. The officers are trying their hardest not to laugh at the formal occasion, but they can’t help but at least give a giggle or a smirk looking at the napping Brody.

Mederios said:

“We put him down on the desk and he was just so comfortable that he lay down and fell asleep.”

Well, Mederios ended up taking up an oath for Brody. They might as well let the little pup rest before doing his job on his first day.

Right at that moment, we could see that Brody will definitely eliminate the stress from the working environment by giving the officers wholesome smiles on their faces.
